Soft Elicenser
Last updated: 2021/04/14
This support video looks at transferring a license from the soft-elicenser to a USB-eLicenser. You can only use Steinberg software like Cubase with a license. If the Soft-eLicenser (license container on hard disk) displayed by the eLicenser Control Center doesn't show any licenses, please use the activation code you've received for the software to downlo.
When you install a new GPU or other hardware, you might get this message when starting Cubase.
“Your system finger print is not valid.”
“Soft-Eliceneser doesn’t have enough permissions to run properly. please run LCC to fix this problem.”
“Fixing relevant file permissions failed.”
To fix, simply:
Reinstall/download the eLicenser Installation Helper:
https://download.steinberg.net/downloads/elc-installation-helper.exe

This should reset your software eLicenser.
If you had anything stored in a Soft-eLicenser instead of your hardware dongle, you’ll have to go to your MySteinberg to reactivate it.
